Meaning of Names

Postby jedamum » Tue Apr 28, 2009 1:46 am

As parents, it is inevitable that we do have some expectations of how we would want our kids to grow up to be. This, I believe, can be revealed by the broad meanings of the names we gave our kids even before they were born.

I know some kids' have a combination of a few of the above considerations, but what is the MAIN one?

Here's just a poll for fun.

jedamum, since you already know my DD's name, it's quite obvious why we named her that.

And the other option chosen was by you, right? So which "star" did you name your DS's after?

EDIT/ADD: My DD is named for wisdom, among other things. Her Chinese name is derived from her English name and it refers to intelligence/wit.

I always feel that nothing is more important than happiness. So my girl's name (both chinese and english) is all about happiness and cheerful. Coincidently, the person I admire a lot has this name meaning cheerful. And the Chinese name I choosed also fulfilled my husband's criteria - easy to write, less strokes :D

All 3 names are chosen based on the 'fengshui' master

for first - Chinese (quiet w foresight) n english (flower-like)\
second - chinese ( expand w foresight) n english (gifted)
third - chinese (heart w foresight) n english (holy)

luckily...all can used the same chinese character for the last word for their names ....
