These are parents that make good Teachers/Educators leave the service.

Hm, dh was laughing over this when he showed it to me. I didn't read it but a photo that showed the hair cut dangerously close to the scalp did catch my attention. The scissors appeared to be either angled dangerously towards the scalp, or the teacher really was just grabbing and cutting without looking. The school was lucky that there was no wounds.

To me it's not about the haircut per se. It was obviously a power show down, and someone went overboard. The boy could have been receiving stitches. That photo up there does not tell the complete story.

If it's a power show down over long hair in school, I would plumb for the teacher any day. Further, it doesn't look like a Loner Attack. The team of educators concurred on the approach... so it seems like a reasoned decision, and applied in front of witnesses. Going overboard seems unlikely, unless the boy was himself struggling violently.

This wasn't the first time the boy has been warned about his hairstyle. To continually "test" the system is going to risk such incidents. Doesn't help that the boy's mum is perceived to "bo-chup".

I think that as long as rules are clear, and have been communicated several times, the school has a duty towards OTHER parents and OTHER children to apply the rule.

The school should have just sent that boy back .... Till he return with a decent hair cut.

Too long get a hair cut.
I don't like my boy to do those high slop cut..
So grandfather ...
Anyway, school don't be too harsh ...
Relax.. U cross the human right!
Sent the boy home or speak with the parents or detention la...
Why cut his hair ? What right have you got?
Just because you are the teacher ? So what ?
If stress? Take it to somewhere else?
