GOOD ROLE MODEL TO YOUNGSTER -NBA JEREMY LIN

Postby dolphinsiah » Wed Feb 22, 2012 3:36 pm

Good Afternoon Everybody,

I do not know whether anybody noticed the big rising star of NBA -Asian American Jeremy Lin. :imcool:

I am not a fan of Basket Ball , I stumbled on this Rising Star of NBA while watching the Taiwan TVBS news.....

I am very impress of this young rising Star.... :scared:

A Star with so humble background....
Background of Jeremy Lin:
Lin was considered short in High School when he was playing in the Basket Ball team, his height was around 1.65cm....
But he grew and he was 1.85 cm before he entered University.

He was rejected by Stanford(if I am not wrong) for a scholarship to play basketballl...because at 1.85cm and also Asian...he is considered not suitable to play Basketball.

But Lin did not give up, he went to Harvard.. Yes...Harvard got a Degree on his own without Scholarship in Economics.... :xedfingers:

And of Course continue with his Basket Ball playing.... :boogie:

He was again rejected by many Basket Ball Teams, finally a Team who has been always losing matches accepted him....

But for a start he was always on the bench being the reserve....

His opportunity came , I think last month....he helped his team won 8 matches...even against the Winning Team of Last Year... :xedfingers:

Overnite...this Lin became a hot rising NBA star in America... :rahrah:

Even the Presdient Obama is very impressed about this new star...

Lin not only has brain , talent and humble. :imanangel:
Watching him helping his team mates scored against the opponent is very interseting...
He never steal the show...he is always crediting the winning to his team mates.

Lin is a good role model for our Youngster....
Never give up your dream....
Nobody believe in you , you must believe in yourself....
And be humble.... :rahrah:

I just hope Lin to continue to stay humble and not let the overnight popularity spoilt his good character.
:xedfingers:

Yes, I've been following up on Lin too, Honey. I've watched some of his interviews and he's indeed down to earth. It's amazing how he now has fans from all over the world!

He's unique, I would say - cos he speaks American English so has 洋 fans, yet he's asian, so many Asians are proud of him too.

I have been following his news too. In fact I got my DS to read about him not only his academic achievement and sports talents, but his humble and down-to-earth ways.

It's really difficult to find a good role model these days.. whether in entertainment industry or sports field. The young stars now exhibit alot of traits which I want to discourage in my DS, so really how many are there left who are "safe bets". My DS also plays basketball, hence my hope that he'll emulate Lin.

I hope Lin will not let all the success go to his head and remain as a "boy-next-day".
