Getting into Preferred School via CCA Achievements

Postby concern2 » Wed Feb 29, 2012 4:00 pm

Hi, has anyone gotten transferred into your preferred school (or entered Secondary School) based on CCA Achievements?

I say 'your' as I assume it is parents who make the decisions for their children. Case may be different for choice of secondary school, since it may not be parents who make the choice anymore.

Generally, I am keen to know how CCA achievements are valued by schools and MOE, and what happens if the academic grades of the students fall behind those of his/her peers in that school (since entrance isn't based on academic achievement).

Ok, how about this:

Do you know of any schools that value certain CCAs and would take in students based on achievements in those CCAs?

I understand that sometimes it's arranged by the coaches, ie, if the other school which he is coaching is in need of better players and your child somehow fit into his plans, he can make the necessary arrangements. I presume u r talking abt pr school.

Y5 student in reputable JC, took leave 1 year preparing for Olympics this year. This path is successful for parents who are rich ,have businesses everywhere, and Iron rice bowl.

For middle income and lower income will suffer in the long term. There may be some arguements 'my so and so is only an employee of local company, and their child scores and plays well'. There are people who are lucky in their life journey, never face retrenchment at all, healthy, good marriage, etc.
