Parent pays nearly $6,000 a month in tuition fees

Post by Daddy D » Tue Mar 06, 2012 8:50 pm

http://www.edvantage.com.sg/edvantage/n ... _fees.html

"Her son is a straight A student in a top boys' school here yet this mother spends $5,800 a month on his tuition....
To top it off, she pays people to do her son's homework when he can't cope with the combination of school and tuition assignments.
She pays $200 per hour if they have to swing by before midnight and $250 an hour when it's later..."

Something is seriously wrong here... :yikes:

I do feel sorry for the boy. Bet his grades never suffered enough for him to experience setbacks, and bet he never had the chance to prove to himself.

Maybe I am old school but I feel that setbacks and recovery is necessary in a child's road to self discovery. If parents pave the road and preempt every obstacle along the way, they are likely doing a disservice and even cripple the child psychologically.

Wonder if he boy, in his heart of hearts, ever doubted his own academic ability, and if he stood proud and tall when he received his good grades.

$6000 a month is equivalent to a middle income earner. Or equivalent to $1500/subject. That's scary!

Look, some people earn $200 per hour and not per day

You are soo right, Mawar.
I followed the article and read about the narcissism epidemic in USA. It's so true. Parenting is about balancing between extremes - and teaching our children to take a balanced view of life. What values are these parents passing on?
