Think it's three Caucasian expats who were drunk and assaulted a taxi driver plus some pp who tried to help the driver. One stood trial and was jailed. Two others ran away before their trial was heard. Now one of those (NZ-lander) is offering money to one of the victims to reduce the severity.

Saw in Chinese papers that the student (who was beaten up and offered 20k) could do with the money, but has declined becos he wants the NZ-lander to face what he has done. Good for him (the student). And shame on the ones that scooted off....

Seems like there is some talk in parliament about how those two were able to leave the country though they had this case pending against them.

So whose fault is this for letting off the expats?

Whether the student accept the settlement or not, they still have to go Changi squat for a while.

No lau. But as restitution was made and accepted, likely the severity will be lessened.
