Amendment on air ticket

Dear parents,

I would grateful for your kind feedback if you ever experinced such scenario before. If there is a typo's error on the name for air ticket and the airline said it cannot be change as it was sales ticket.

If it is the Airline Fault, insist to have it change/amend...

Actually, i was quite confurse whether it my fault or their system as this was new airline. There were a lot of complaint raised for their booking system in FB on their 1st launch day.

They insisted cannot change as it was sales fare, hate on their rigid policy and I was caught into such dilemma.

The airlines are not so rigid. A few years ago, I missed a flight and managed to get another flight the next day at no extra charge. I feel that a typo on the air ticket is a small issue. They will reprint the ticket for you if you insist in a nice way.

Not sure about other airlines, but for SQ, they allow changes but you have to go down personally to their office, and also pay for admin charge of $30.

They do not have office in Singapore for time being. Even Jetstar allow for change in their customer counter without charge.

for budget airlines, it is usually take it or leave it, you make mistake your own problem

while for full service airline, at worst you cancel and rebook, but for budget airline, you cancel the ticket has no value (most of the time)

i've experienced the same problem last year. jetstart allows you to change if you spot the same mistake and do correction within 12 or 24 hours (can't remember, but something like same day). allows change without charge if you fax them the passport of passenger within same day. but thenafter, there's a change imposed i think.

as for silkair/SQ flights, if your ticket is sales fare, too bad, you'd have to pay admin fee of i think $50 applies no matter what's the scenario for wrong name.
