P2 Pocket Money

Postby nms1 » Thu Jul 05, 2012 10:20 am

A bit off-topic but I can't find anywhere else to post this.

For those of you giving pocket money to your child, how much do you give? My daughter usually takes a snack for recess but I give her money in case she wants to buy anything especially when she stays later. However, she is constantly asking for money for one thing or another so I am thinking that maybe it's time to give her a fixed amount to manage, especially as they are covering money in maths at the moment!

I am a child ( Currently in P6 ) and have been given $1.50 every school day since P1. (Days with supplementary lessons - $1.60) I only drink a packet of milo during recess and a bowl of noodles during lunch.

I give my p2 child $3 daily. On days that he has cca, I will bring food to him after school.

Anything he wants like cute eraser, ruler, toys from bookshop, he has to save for it. Mine might skip recess cos he has another 5 minutes of snack time at about 12 o'clock. And I make sure he has a good breakfast.

I gave my dd $10 per week in pri sch (last year). Another $2 per day on the days she has CCA. If she needs stationery, i will give her extra money for it. I did ask the school for guidelines, apparently, around $2 a day should be enough if no cca.
