BTW... some shopping centres are observing that event by having activities for families and kids. I know of 2 - Parkway Parade and City Square Mall.

Post others here too that you know about.

So if you want to save some electricity while enjoying that provided by others... you have somewhere to go :)

In the last 3 years, we had done the following activities:

- went for evening swim
- went for evening walk around the neighbourhood
- ate ice cream at home amidst lit candles (kids loved it!!)

Can consider the following:

Does Earth Hour Do More Harm Than Good? http://www.huffingtonpost.com/maggie-ko ... 90247.html

"The problem isn't individual choices. The problem is the infrastructures that we share, infrastructures that often limit our energy choices and incentivize wasting energy rather than conserving it. Europeans don't use less energy than us because they're better people, who are more willing to make sacrifices and sit in the dark. They use less energy because their shared systems allow them to use less energy without having to think about it, and without it being a hardship.

The solutions to our energy problems don't start with individuals shutting the lights off at home. They start with public policy -- the only force that can actually change how the infrastructure and shared systems work"

I already do my part by leaving the aircon off most of the time. Maybe I should celebrate Earth Hour by turning it on to see if it still works... :siam:
