the poor child was really frightened by the explosion, repeated 5 times urging her dad to get out of there.

The plant makes ammonia, which is what people use to make home made bombs. That's why a small fire became major explosions. Even adults will be very scared by the explosions.
US are in the news for the wrong reasons these few days. My heart goes out to all the victims, and wish all injured speedy recovery!
