Police called in after man tosses toddler into the air repeatedly at Bedok kopitiam
Patrons at a coffee shop at Block 18, Bedok South Road were surprised to see a man tossing his child in the air several times and muttering to himself at about 1.50pm on Tuesday (Apr 30). The sight frightened several customers, and one of them called the police.
According to a New Paper report, a witness said the man was stroking and pinching the child's cheeks. Another witness said the man took his shirt off when he first came to the coffee shop, and lifted the toddler towards a fan.
A nearby shop owner approached the man to stop him, and the man put the child down after his warning.
Later, the man stood outside and started shouting, and picked up the child again. The shop owner stopped him once again and called the police.
The police said they received a call at about 2pm and a man in his 30s was taken away. Police investigations are ongoing.
The toddler’s mother said her husband had acted strangely after losing more than $100,000 on football bets. He owed his bank a lot of money after becoming addicted to football betting two to three years ago.
