Happy Mothers' Day!

Postby ChiefKiasu » Sat May 11, 2013 1:19 pm

My daughter came to me and asked me for money to buy her mommy a paper rose and a card for Mother's Day.

I told her that if she made her own present instead of buying it, it would be more meaningful for mommy.

She pouted and said:
"But I can't draw well.
I'll make mommy look like a bell!
And the rose I make will not smell
Like those that the bookstore sell"

"Sweetheart, that's exactly why mommy would love your gift.
A rose that is crafted by the very fingers of the one she had given birth to, each petal shaped and painted with the same care that she gave to you as she
fed you when you were hungry,
comforted you when you were sad,
nursed you when you were sick,
and protected you when you were scared.

And your rose will be as imperfect as she may have been,
losing her temper when you were naughty,
yelling at you when you couldn't do your homework,
oversleeping when she was tired out,
and leaving you in front of the TV when she was busy.

So fill your rose, with its flaws, to the brink with your love,
and tell mommy that you understand, appreciate and care
about the unconditional love she has given to you.

That would make it the most precious gift that your mommy would love."

Happy Mother's Day to all mothers, young and old! Share with us what you would love as a Mother's Day gift... and what you actually received :)

Mothers' day Means more to me these few years (than before). In the past years, I was just grateful for having a great mum and how fortunate we are that she is still with us. In the recent years, I am not just grateful that my mum is still with us but also, how my little one is now able to show his love and appreciation (in his own way) for me.

As with the past two years, my little one is making a card for me. In each of the last two cards, he did "palm painting" and this year, it is no different. So I get to see how the little palm grows from year to year. And I get all emo comparing the cards, seeing how the little one grows
