Hehehe..feels strange right..??

Like I said DD super careless.. now A* go to A, and if this trend of her carelessness continue.. will be downhill from here on..things will not be getting easy from P4 onwards right..?

I know she is hardworking..but she will never ask any doubts or questions by herself..I will have to prod her.. Do you have doubts..? Were you able to understand the concept which I explained to you?..

She is a very quiet and contained girl..(especially where studies are concerned)..my worry is she will not highlight her understanding issues or lack of concept..until too late..

Its never wrong to revisit the path and understand what went wrong..learning from mistakes and improving there on is part of learning journey..ya..?

I do not wish my DD to be the topper..If she can maintain high A in most subjects and 1 or 2 A* am fine..

Does this looks too ambitious?

mother777,

Does your dd's school subscribe to mconline? I find the oral buddy component rather good. Your dd can use the mouse to point at any words that she can't read and it will read out to her.

For chi compo it's a matter of peppering it with cheng yu, description, su yu to support the content.

Maybe get her tutor to recommend some chi stories for her to read if her school does not provide a reading list

To me, it is not too ambitious, but too much of a perfectionist.

I feel that it is better to learn new things then to dwell on the 5% she lost instead of appreciating the 90% she has scored. Otherwise, no matter how well she's done, she will always feel inadequate.

I feel like foundation has to be good before moving on to higher level..best thing is at home she was scoring more than 93+ for top school maths papers..but final result no so good..
..
OK so have to move forward..holidays must brush up past year concept and try to read more and work on compo (both english and chinese)..

Well thats the plan..
Scoring A and A* still need to brush up on past year concept? :?

I am also scratching my head. Already score A n still not contented???? Must score A* for all subjects all the time?
Different people different goals. Sometimes it is not just about A or A* or BCD. It is the capabilities of that child.

If you know your child can easily be in the 90s range and have been getting that kind of marks, and suddenly it goes below, naturally you will want to know if somewhere something was overlooked.

Of course if the kid has always been at best a C student, even with hard work put in, then to expect and A* out of them will too stressful for everyone.

Thanks! Wow such a wide range so 'A' is achievable for many kids.

What is the lowest passing grade for PSLE nowadays? Still got 'D' or ends at 'C'?

:scratchhead: I'd always thought A is 85 to less than 91. 75 to less than 91 is quite a big range. How about banding? What's Band 1, 2 etc?

HI SAHM_TAN,
Yes my DD school has MConline. She does uses it to practice along with the oral practice CD's I buy for her.

I have mentioned DD's weakness to her tutor and she also agrees that she needs to work on the compo, vocabulary and also word pronounciation..
Hope DD improves under the guidance of her tutor..

Since I don't speak chinese, its totally hands off. So far DD is maintaining high end A and I am happy about it..

A is a big range. That is why a Tscore of 3 A*s and A can be quite a big range

Obtained from a pri school website:

Band 1 - 85 and above -Is very good at the subject
Band 2 - 70 to 84 - Is good at the subject
Band 3 - 50 to 69 - Has adequate grasp at the subject
Band 4 - Below 50 - Has not met the minimum requirements for the subject

A* - 91 and above - Has very good understanding of the subject
A - 75 to 90 - Has good understanding of the subject
B - 60 to 74 - Has good understanding of the subject
C - 50 to 59 - Has adequate understanding of the subject
D - 35 to 49 - Has fair understanding of the subject
E - 20 to 34 - Has elementary understanding of the subject
U - Below 20 - Has not met the requirements for the minimum grade
