Hi Funz and Insider.... :thankyou: for sharing your thoughts...

There is a Chinese saying: 养儿一百,常忧九十九.

But I will try to think more for myself when they reach 21....

Anyway my motto of life is :

Less Expectations Less Disappointments.... :xedfingers:

My way of building more Retirement funds: :moneyflies: :moneyflies:
a) Buy TOTO ...buy Big Sweep.... I don't buy 4D....
Because the prize is not enough to retire...
Friends always comment "小刀锯大树"

I have a neighbour strike 1st Prize big Sweep
and also friend strike TOTO....first prize

b)Have to work beyond 65....(hopefully not). :skeptical:

Anyway I always think I am still lucky to be born in Singapore....At least I am educated , can fight for my rights.....

Hi Dolphinsiah,

I remember you have a condo fully paid for and you are thinking of asking your daughters to pay half of the condo so you can buy a flat and use the remainder for retirement.

May I suggest that when your daughters are married, you stay with one of your daughters and rent out your condo? This way you can use the rental income to live comfortably during your retirement age. Your daughters can inherit the condo when you are no longer around.

Good morning ngl2010,

Yes, I still have a fully paid house as my holding card.... :xedfingers:

:thankyou: I agree with your idea ...should rent out the house when the girls get marry....
(silly me ...why this idea never cross my mind :slapshead: )

But I will not live with the girls when they form their new family....相见容易相处难.

Will find a small apartment to live during my silver years....

Yes....my house will be my another income to finance my retirement expenses... :rahrah:

A lot of factors affect life expectancy which makes it very complicated to predict. We can see statistics of different countries and the thing is that in developed ones we see positive trends almost everywhere. Thankfully, it's true for Singapore too. But it's all without force majeures which affect life expectancy dramatically. Check Croatia in 90th https://populationstat.com/croatia/, for instance.

I'm still seeing myself living in Singapore for the rest of my years.. so many reasons why I can't just leave SG and I can't imagine myself living in a different country. :)
