Waterproof Mattress Protector

Postby insider » Fri Jun 21, 2013 11:34 pm

My mum carries an external bag for her urine.

Sometimes at night, she may accidentally wet her bed when the tube of the bag is not connected fully to her. So, she used to lay a big piece of pvc (like a table cloth) under her bed sheet to prevent the bed from getting wet if she spilt.

I feel pvc cannot breathe and so must be uncomfortable.

I have been combing for breathable mattress protector and so far what I can find is more for babies / young children and the sizes are all quite small.

I saw this ad in ST today. Is this really waterproof? Or someone please can recommend me something that is more comfortable than the pvc?

This seller I found her on Singapore Morherhood Forum when I was searching for one. Never had a chance to purchase from her but she has good following if return customers. She has good variety of waterproof protectors, like waterproof top only, full waterproof sides and even supposed airier ones made from bamboo or something like that.

Seller has a dedicated thread in SMH at this link.

I have been using Old Empire for several years. Kids and I have sensitive noses and skin.
Anti bacteria, dust mite, anti-whatever.
Fitted ones are better than those with top layer attached with elastic bands.

I bought both waterproof mattress and bolster protectors from Robinsons before. Can't remember which brand, but they are indeed waterproof. I remember there is a caveat on how many washes they are good for though.

The surface material isn't any different from normal cotton, so they are very comfortable.

I have been looking for the type of protector that is just a plastic sheet to put under the normal sheet. I can find them in cot size but not in single bed size. I find these better than the cotton type as you can just change the top sheet, wipe down the protector and put the child back to bed. I have been using two cot-sized ones but they have a tendency to move around.
