P6 Boy Allegedly Pinned on Desk by His Neck by Teacher

Postby tankee » Wed Jul 10, 2013 10:28 pm

A primary 6 boy was allegedly pinned on a school desk by his neck. This was done by his teacher.

The incident happened on Tuesday, July 2 at about 10am in an elite school in the east of Singapore.

He had gone for classes late as he was not feeling well, and his mother was shocked to see his teacher chase him into the classroom.

She claims she saw the teacher pinning her son on a desk by his neck.

Tay Weiming's father, 63, and his mother made a police report, complained to the Ministry of Education and also alerted Lianhe Wanbao.

Mr Tay told Wanbao that on the day of the incident, his son was not feeling well.

His wife had alerted the school early in the morning, and with the permission of the vice-principal, her son was allowed to go directly to wait outside the classroom for his classmates to finish the morning assembly.

Mr Tay claimed that the teacher, upon seeing Weiming there, asked why he did not attend the morning assembly.

Weiming did not explain and went directly into the classmate but was pulled outside by the teacher.

At this point, Weiming had shouted in fear, but his mind was on attending class, so he again went back to his seat.

Little did he know the teacher would stop him again and even pull him into the adjacent classroom immediately.

According to the Wanbao report, the boy suffered headaches, vommitting and was hospitalised for three days.

Previous cases include a childcare teacher who was sacked for mistreating a three-year-old and a principal who allegedly made a school boy stand in the corner with a box on his head for three hours.

The news report doesn't seem right.

Reportedly incident happened after morning assembly and yet timing is 10plus am? Which elite school in the east starts so late? :? And what is the mother doing in the school at that hour, to be able to witness the incident? :?

The mystery deepens... I'm only surprised we are not given any video footage of the incident in this day and age of citizen reporting.

According to the report I read, he was late to school bec he was sick so his mother went to the VP's office to inform him. Mother was still around when she saw him being dragged to the next classroom. She followed them to the classroom and witnessed the teacher pinning the kid to the table.

in this day and age, maybe all can don't go school and just do digital learning at home...

son was allowed to go directly to wait outside the classroom for his classmates to finish the morning assembly.
