Remembering the Kallang Roar

Postby tianzhu » Tue Jul 30, 2013 7:18 am

Hi

Good Morning.

Remembering the Kallang Roar when the National Stadium was packed at its 55000 capacity for most matches.

Time flies, I am an old man already.

I used to rush to the stadium to watch with my siblings , after work.
Some of us ( usually my eldest sis) would packet dinner for us ( usual chia siew rice )... Hence those were the days.. Kallang Roar & Chia Siew Fen !
I am not too sure what I enjoyed most... the roar.. the free dinner .. or simply .. family time !

At some point in every match, would be the top-of-the-voice scream of

Freshly baked breads and indian karipap or curry puff still available @ Onan Road.

I also remember "The Chant".

It just needed anyone to blow the whistle to the tune,
then everyone in the stadium would chant :censored: in unison.

:censored: = some blasphemous chant that was

You can still find the Indian puff at the sarabat (sp?) stall.
