be very careful when stopping the car along the expressway, especially at night. This is not the first case.

So sad....

Highway road shoulder is never a safe place.... especially at the down hill, and after a big curve bend....

Is this a drink drive case? I can't imagine how it happen. Isn't the stalled car on the road shoulder?

The driver of the car which crashed into another car on the road shoulder, killing four people in an early-morning accident on the Central Expressway on Friday morning, has been arrested.

The accident killed Mr Amron Ayoub, 23; his Korean girlfriend Jamie Song, 24, and her parents, who had been standing behind the car.

Ms Song's older brother, standing beside the car, was not injured.

The 34-year-old man who was driving the other car was arrested for dangerous driving causing death, and his driving licence has been suspended, police said on Friday.

The vehicle he was driving rammed into a broken-down car that had stopped on the road shoulder of the expressway heading north, near the Yio Chu Kang exit.

The incident happened in the wee hours of this morning (Aug 9) towards the Seletar Expressway, before the Yio Chu Kang exit, according to The Straits Times.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force received a phone call at 3.56am and arrived to find two women and one man lying motionless on the road. All three were pronounced dead on the scene.

Singaporean Mr Amron Ayoub was sent to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital with multiple injuries but died there.

The driver of the other car, a 34-year-old man, complained of chest and head pain and was sent to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.

This is really terrible.

Drivers like this give Singapore motorists a bad name.

May not be. A lot of early morning accidents occurred coz of fatigue or sleepiness, especially along the e'way.

Sad to say, many Singapore car drivers don't carry or display break down sign !!

Very true.. Sometimes when the motorist sees a car in front on the road shoulder, they somehow mistakenly think that the lane is a proper driving lane - esp under low visibility conditions, at night, or if they're tired and not paying attention.

If coming directly from the back at high speed, they might not even notice that the car on the road shoulder is actually stationary, not moving.

So if we need to stop on the road shoulder for any reason, please remember to turn on the hazard lights, display any signage to show the car is stationary, and don't stay inside the car if possible.
