I thought the heart-stopping moment was when the rock was about to roll over and land on the car, but someone up there was looking out for the passengers. Thank goodness.

Don't worry lah. Singapore no more mountains, no more big rocks. We have to import them from Indonesia some more to build our stuff.

did the driver of the white car die ?

what cause the landslide ?
soft soil erosion, strong wind blow, heavy rain ?

Oh dear.....scary....

i rmb once at Taiwan, our trip to Alisan was cancelled becos of possible landslides due to heavy rain....
Upon hearing of the cancellation....we were so disappointed...

The tour guide told us that there was once a landslide along the journey....
All the tourists onboard of the bus had to get down to help to carry those rocks away....
i presume, it was a mild one, not those big, heavy rocks...How to carry ??

heavy rain

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Heavy rain wreaked havoc in many parts of Taiwan yesterday, hitting Keelung particularly hard in the north, and forcing the southern city of Tainan to suspend school and work for the evening.

Aiyoh... Our whole family (incl. kids and my parents) went to Taiwan just last year. We did pass by various mountainous roads, like the Tairokee area. It's made mostly of marble, we were told - not sure about this one in the video... In any case, whatever the make-up, i supposed even if it's made of cotton it would definitely have killed if impact was direct, given the momentum...

Taiwan is just off Pacific Ocean. We saw the strong wave by the sea at Hualian. When there is typhoon, i'm sure it's no joke... And we also experienced minor earthquake when there. Not sure if it's 'geographically' possible, but if got earthquake and typhoon together... cannot imagine.

I visited one of my students many years ago after a major earthquake. There were large cracks on the walls that you can slide your hands in. His parents told me that they did not intend to repair the place cos the damage was considered minor and won't make business sense if another earthquake hit. :skeptical:
