Tycoon funds ACS school building to remember son who died

I don't fault the parents for what they do. However, I do think it's a wrong 'gesture' on part of school.

Is the $1 mil a need or could the school have been able to complete the new block even without the donation??

it is not a government school

any dollar received is a plus

and is no difference from those ultra rich who paid $100m a piece for a hospital to be named after them, or a medical school or music school named after them

All the riches in the world can't buy his son back. It must pain him greatly to loose a son. I :salute: him for his contribution to the society. I am sure his son would have been proud of his father.

Peter Lim also donated $5m to ACS Intl, his father's name is on one of the block.

Guess that's about the only way a school can do to honor the donors, I mean the super donors.

VB looks better in real person, charming, charismatic, not many men's smile as charming as his.... but I like Richard Seow better, if there is one man to convince me that man age like wine, then RS is the one....

I think it sends the wrong message that the school only honours those who contributes financially. Why not name a block after those who do a lot of real community work as compared to those who just donate money.. society is already pissed at the elitism some of our people are displaying.. this doesn't help really.. even though its a kind gesture and the loss of one's child can never be understood by others at the sideline.
