2 hospitals to charge $15 to ensure that newborn is yours!

Postby imwithchild » Thu Oct 10, 2013 12:03 pm

it seems like Gleneagles and KKH will be charging $15 to ensure that your newborn baby is yours! how can they allow this? why do we have to pay them further to make sure that they are doing their job right?

this is unfortunately an example of how far our society has fallen. Fancy charging money to get this right? Its not a matter of whether it should be right, it must be right. Nobody should need to pay to ensure the diligence in this area. This is due diligence that has to be followed from the very beginning.

Ridiculous !
It is part of their job duty,to ensure safety of the baby newly born, into the world.

You mean pay $ will make more vigilant in yr job role , whereas don't pay $ means you can slacken in yr job duty ?

Shocked at these 2 hospital!
Are they saying that next time if a baby ever get lost or stolen by strangers or accomplices working inside hospital - they can wash their hands, say is not their responsibility, because the parents never pay $15 ?
And if today start $15, tomorrow (future, going forward) costs can escalate into hundred or thousand ?

Unbelievable! paying $15 for an extra tag to ensure the hospital delivers us with our baby!

Who tags? the nurses? do we also need to ensure they print the right tag with the right information and attach it on the right baby?

Maybe it's an option for parents who want to double confirm chop and stamp the baby is theirs.

I don't think the hospitals are trying to shrug off any responsibilities.

I think it's a case of new service badly presented to the public.

just saw this on ST:

http://www.straitstimes.com/breaking-ne ... rue-kkh-20

The KK Women's and Children's Hospital (KKH) has debunked rumours circulating online that the hospital is charging parents an additional $15 to ensure they bring the right baby home.

These claims, posted on Singapore-based forums and websites, cited a Tuesday report by Lianhe Wanbao which suggested that KKH was charging patients for the use of the radio frequency identification (RFID) system that matches mother to child.

Ms Audrey Lau, director of the corporate development division of KKH, rejected these claims adding that "the information implied by these sites is factually incorrect". "KKH does not have an additional charge to patients for the use of this system. The Lianhe Wanbao report referred to by these sites clearly mentions that KKH does not charge patients," she said in a media statement. "We take a very serious view of this misinformation and will be raising this directly with the entities involved."

Under the RFID system, matching tags are attached to mother and child at delivery. These tags set off an alarm if the baby is given to another mother but emits a pleasant chime if the right pair of tags are together.

Thanks, fusilli.

So, 水落石出..... too many people/media are just blindly and happily jump the gun at any authority that they could blamed or are super quick at 一支竹竿打翻全船人 , couldn't even bother to verify first, to them if there is any chance to pin the blame on others they'd seized.... it only spell out one thing-- what a lot of unhappy disgruntled souls!
