You have to ask what is the % of Singaporeans who are happy ?

There are some Singaporeans who are in hopeless situations which they could not get out of, and they can only think of suicide as a way out :

http://www.straitstimes.com/BreakingNew ... ml?vgnmr=1
A MAN fell 12 storeys to his death on Saturday night while a fire raged in his flat where his two young children lay dead in their bedroom.

Neighbours in Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10 heard two explosions at about 9.50pm and saw thick, black smoke billowing out of the sixth floor unit in Block 543.

As some of them scrambled out of their flats and gathered at the ground floor, they looked up and saw Mr Ng Chee Kiang, 39, plunging from the parapet on the 12th floor.

Firefighters broke into the blazing flat and found the siblings lying face-up, side by side, on a bed in their bedroom. Neither had a pulse nor were breathing.

It is not clear how Xavier Ng Wei Yi, 5, and Cheryl Ng Shi Hui, 3, died. But their bodies were not burnt and the fire was largely restricted to the living room.

Early investigations show the fire appeared to have begun on the living room sofa.

Could it be that we are too sheltered, so many think of suicide as the only solution?

Killing yourself is bad enough, why bring the innocent kids along?

Back to the topic: I'm happy :) Are you?

HAPPINESS is at best transient and dependent on external circumstances.
It is short-lived and may not last forever.

I would rather have joy and peace in spite of difficult circumstances and be contented with my lot.

Most people I know who are truly happy are not materially endowed in many ways.

When days are smooth sailing, we are thankful and enjoy the bliss. When times are tough, we choose to be thankful and ask God for strength to help us through.

Only faith and hope last eternally.

Happiness is a choice. It's merely the result of serotonin/dopamine being produced in the brain, either as a result of external stimuli or internal chemical changes.

If there's nothing to make me happy, i will make myself happy.

If i'm not happy, at least i will make people around me unhappy, so i might seem happier LOL kidding hehe

well said. I enjoy being happy, i also relish in my moments of unhappiness, anger, sadness.

what's the big deal, it's just transient emotions anyway...i never allow momentary feelings to dictate important decisions or colour my views on life ;)
