and then how come got debris in the sink? Is it from the repair of spalling concrete? This sink is in the toilet or kitchen?

I don't think they will use the toilet sink but I think they would want to use the kitchen sink if possible.
Debris in the kitchen sink, both from the dust that travels from the toilet and also from the hacking of the kitchen pipes (if your parents have chosen to change these as well)

I am now shuddering just to think about this. Really, if your parents can help it, still better to move out for the 10-day period. Bad to breathe in so much dust. Could see many of our neighbours 大包小包 moving out at that time. One even moved her TV and dining table over to her mother's place in the opposite block lol

Canvas sheets. Alternatively go to daiso and buy the plastic table cloth or picnic sheets.

Can buy very large plastic sheets at SKP. Just tell the person that you are looking for plastic sheets for painting. It is big enough to seal up doors (must seal up the wall in front of the door), cover sofa, cabinets, etc.

Hardware shops will also have. Also buy rolls of adhesive tape to keep them in place.

Seek Town Council’s mediation with yr neigbor. Years ago, it happened to our old flat. The 1st time was timely coz it was within our upstairs neigbor’s reno warranty & we gave them grace period till their daughter’s wedding was over & it was done FOC. The 2nd time years later, TC requires equal sharing of water-proofing & painting. Think les than $200 in total (can’t really rmbr coz it was >15 years ago.

HDB said the sharing of bill btn upstairs neighbour occurred only when there is seepage. In my case (my dad's flat in Tamp), it was not. HDB told me we will have to bear the cost (max $300).
Town Council said since this was inside the hdb flat, so it would be under hdb purview.

Old flats have lots of prob.
