Astro Boy is so yester-years

Postby penglee » Tue Nov 24, 2009 7:54 pm

I am curious why N2 and K2 boys are obsessed with AstroBoy.
This timeless classic is from Daddy's era :shock:

According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astro_boy
1952 --> Japanese Manga debut
1963 --> First broadcast on Japan TV

Now I got problem deciding between AstroBoy and 2012

I so wanted to watch Astroboy too... Asked my son and he said he wont want to spend almost 2 hrs inside the cinema... So asked me to get DVD when it is out and we watch at home.

I was free yesterday afternoon and ended up watching 2012 alone... cos everybody else is at work :roll: ... Anyway 2012 is a movie that you wanna watch at the big screen.

As for Astroboy... Shd be ok watching at home lar ... Anyway being timeless... May be good to have a copy of the DVD when it is out :wink:

Yes, 2012 should be watched on the big screen. After watching it, my kids say "no need to study so hard". Yeah..you wish...I also want to see the auroras. :roll:

I think it's a great movie..for its effects..but ridiculous how the leads never got killed by all the falling ashes and wat not. The reason for the apocalypse seems entirely plausible..the earth cooked from inside like those thermal cooking pots..scary thought. :|

Why does astroboy look so mixed? Isn't he supposed to be Japanese?

I brought my 6-year old to watch and she said 'aiya, you should let him watch the original one first instead of starting him with this distorted version'.

I agree with your eldest girl; whenever America tries to remake something originally Japanese, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth, even when I've not seen the original before.
