Topping up MRT card at ATMs now cost money

I didn't know until today... :moneyflies: :moneyflies:

Topping up ezlink card at ATM/AXS now costs 20cents more. It's still free if done at the machines/Transitlink office. This came into effect few days back only.

Might as well apply for ez-reload.. since it cost about the same and no need to worry how much money left inside the card.

In the past, we could have free GIRO which deducts a fixed amt from our bank a/c when the stored amt in card is low. Since a fee was imposed, many topped up at ATM or the machines at mrt stations. Now start charging the top up at ATM. What's next?

The banks and AXS decided to start charging EZlink for using their machines, so EZlink pass the charge to the consumers like us. Once people start enjoying the convenience and get hooked to it, the operators will start charging.

Machines at MRT station belongs to EZlink - they should not charge people for topping up there as they have to provide a mean for people to top up their EZlink card.

ATM / AXS machines belong to 3rd parties (Banks, AXS). If these operators start charging EZlink for people using their machines to top up EZlink cards, the charge will be passed to consumers using the ATM / AXS machines.

When merchants want to charge, they have 1001 reasons to do to.
What the merchants didnt mention the interest earned daily when so much $$ is stored with them.
OT: Banks charge unless a min deposit is met, citing operating costs. Some charge cheque books (?) too.

Instead of voicing our displeasure here, write to LTA to complain.

There is ORC portal. Just write complaint there, some ministry/board will act on it.
