Detained S'pore teen planned to kill President, PM Lee

Postby sushi88 » Sat May 30, 2015 9:29 am

This is a wake up call for all of us, in particular, our kids. They need to realise that they should stop taking our safety for granted and play an active role to ensure they grow up able to defend self and country.

As parents, we just have to monitor our kids closely that they do not become active in such terrorism acts. It is so sad that with the advent of pervasive access to the Internet, the terrorist organisation recruit their members so rapidly globally.

we parents have to monitor the kids' behaviour, who they mix with and the sites they visit online. maintaining open communication is very important.

Speech by LHL on ISIS threat.

On ISIS recruitment:

I am not following closely to this news but utterly surprised.
Why resort to killing?

I wonder how easy is it for young people to access terrorist sites in Singapore? I would expect tougher controls than say online piracy?

Their aim is caliphate and their means is glorified violence and these are info all over the Internet.

Actually what the real concern for me is in SG recently, more teens are making news these days and so far negative ones....indirectly, it causes me as a parent to reflect. What are we not doing enough or not doing right? I question myself daily..... Are we giving too much Internet access without guidance? :? If we cannot control access, what else should we do?

He is a product of the misuse of Internet, unfortunately.

If I am not wrong, they recruit via Facebook for the young and restless.

It's time to revamp our social studies syllabus and racial harmony day to educate the young on such risks.
