Compulsory should be Tetanus, Hep A, Typhoid, Polio
Medics / Medical Doctors get Hep B as well IIRC.
you mean there are jabs given?
I remember son had a bad outbreak of rashes after his jab in p5.
Ask your DS to see MO if he gets rashes after his jab.

I guess that's what boys serving NS are entitled to...as well as extraction of wisdom tooth FOC.

NS is an integral part of Singapore's defence, which all Singaporean males aged 18 have to go through. NS has come under intense scrutiny of late, because of a spate of deaths and mishaps. Even so, I still think that NS is a necessity because after all, Singapore's only resource is its people. We need soldiers that are battle-ready in the case of a war.

even though NS is necessary, I do hope mindef looks into the unfortunate deaths.
Aloysius' case is a tragedy like the other chaps before him. I believe there are cases swept under the carpet.
we 'lend' our sons to serve 2 years of national service...and we want them to be home safe and sound whether it's NS or reservist.

Commandos conduct their own BMT.

Floppy
Is the SOTAC "killing"? My thin nephew will be going there in July and the whole 'clan' is very worried.

I don’t have the statistics but I think 95% will survive just fine.
The other 5% will *maybe* come back with some broken bones, some mental disorder, a torn ACL, a torn meniscus, etc... nothing serious to worry about

Between now and July, he should try to build up his fitness level through regular exercise, especially if he’s not generally fit. It’s not necessary to beef up as long as he’s not underweight (though underweight stands a better chance of being downgraded  ). Some people also think praying to the Old Gods and the New help, psychologically but binge watching too many war movies like Apocalypse Now, Hamburger Hill, Saving Private Ryan, The Longest Day, Dunkirk could turn him into a nutcase.
