Whut! No World Cup 2010?

Postby Way2GO » Sat Jan 23, 2010 1:43 pm

FIFA or its marketing rep is holding SIN to ransom
asking for a reported ridiculous amount of S$100 mil
to broadcast FIFA World Cup 2010 in June.
That's a lot of moolah for 63 matches some of
which we probably wouldn't watch anyway!
It works out to S$1.587 mil per match.
How much would SingTel or Starhub has to charge
subscribers to recoup the cost?
Absolutely agree with the telcos' stance to throw
this deal into the rubbish bin!

What are the alternatives to watch World Cup 2010?

1. Access Indonesia & Malaysia free to air channels?
Heard Matland intends to encrpyt the TV signals for this
year's broadcast! Cheh :frustrated:

2. We still cannot install satelite dish in SIN?

3. Internet sites are slow for live action.
What are the current popular sites?

4. Take leave and coup up in neighbouring countries
for two weeks or so to catch the action?
Some suggestions?

Why schellen, sashimi not a soccer fan?
Many men (n including many women) need a dose of World Cup soccer
every 4 years.
Just take a look around neighbourhood kopitiams and pubs on match days.
I hv a nagging feeling we will still get to watch somehow.

Actually, schellen isn't far from wrong. Instead of being held hostage by FIFA, Singaporeans should just say to h*ll with FIFA and we'll rather keep our money than to feed a bunch of greedy business people who care more about squeezing the last drop of money from fans than the game itself.

aay aay. The $100 mil can be better used for education and feed the needy in SING.

Missed out the 3rd place game.
$100mil/64 =$1.563 mil per game

I'm one of those chicks who need the every 4 years dose.
This is the time when my daddie and i get to stay up late
to catch the good games LIVE! But hor the sad part is
trying to chill the cheers, cos mumsie ain't a fan. But
for me, it's these times that daddie and i bond even
greater.. we go to bed or to work still pretty hyped
up. And if mumsie locks him out, he'll sleep in my
room. :hugs: Miss ya, dad..
