Light source, opaque object and shadow

Postby pirate » Tue Mar 08, 2016 1:19 pm

Tomorrow, it's going to get dark between 7.22am and 9.32am.

I wonder whether this is a good teaching moment for primary school science teachers to teach about light and shadows etc.

Partial eclipse means we will be in the penumbra? :scratchhead:

I think now it is darker than usual. Or is it my imagination? :scratchhead:

So funny. One of my staff mentioned partial eclipse happening between 7+ to 9+. A couple of other staff looked out the window and commented yah, happening oredi leh. Looks dark outside, macam evening about 7pm. All started getting a bit excited.

I opened the window and asked them to look again. All of them started laughing. Still pretty bright out. Looked dark when they 1st looked out because window is tinted. :rotflmao:

Yes, saw the eclipse! A colleague and I just used a cardboard to made a pin hole camera and saw a shadow of a teeny-weeny crescent shaped sun on a sheet of white paper. My boys said the science department of their school has also made special arrangements for them to view the eclipse via filters.
