Strange encounter at fairprice extra Jurong Point

Postby znzyzyzx » Fri Feb 12, 2010 9:52 am

Wonder if anybody has experienced the following before :

Last night (or I should say this morning 12 am plus) , my husband and I were at the Fairprice extra at Jurong Point to do our last minute Chinese New Year Shopping.

We loaded our trolley with lots of stuff. Then my husband went to toilet while I was looking at some toothbrushes. The trolley was just one lane away behind me.

When my husband came back, we couldn't find our trolley. As we had already put a lot of stuff inside the trolley, the thought of having to walk one more round to reload the stuff made us very "bu gan xin", so we walk around to look for our trolley.

Then we saw a man pushing a trolley that looked like ours. We can recognise it because we have quite unique stuff inside (5 cans of Hosen Longans, two packet of Yummi Rice, 3 packets of Jap seaweed, etc) , although he had put a basket inside the trolley (to disguise it , I suppose ?).

We confirmed it when we saw him taking out the three packets of Japanese seaweads from the trolley to put back into the freezer.

I confronted him. And he got a shock, and mumbled that he was just trying to help to put the frozen stuff back to the freezer so that it would not thaw
(what an excuse ?)

To cut the long story short, we managed to get our trolley back.

My husband and I concluded that he is a professional who made a living out of this.

What do you think ?

Sorry - what do you mean by this? I can't see how he can profit from this. :?

Push the trolley to the trolley station and get the $1.

I'm a regular ntuc shopper at jp. The crowds there can be rather crazy especially during festivals.
i guess that man can't be bothered to walk all the way to the entrance to get himself a trolley.
Save the hassle and just take a trolley he 'thinks' is unattended.
Then act blur to save his face when he's being confronted..... :P

Had my trolley swiped too some years ago at NTUC after having emptied the trolley for the cashier to bag the items. After paying and wanting to return the trolley, I turned to find that my trolley had gone missing. Lost my $1 coin........ :P

I dont think so. If that is the case, he would have just emptied all our content all in one shot at one place. But he was pushing the trolley around , putting the things back. (If he so lazy to get a trolley, why he bother to put the things back to their original place ? We think he is trying not to raise suspicion.)
