Is the contract for your Home Broadband expiring?

Postby BigDevil » Wed Feb 17, 2010 5:01 pm

I am on Singnet 1Mbps plan, paying $28.52 per month. The contract expired 3 weeks ago on Jan 29, 2010.

Seeing that M1 offer of 5Mbps at $25.20/month is a better deal than Singnet's 3Mbps at $27.90/month, I called up Singtel to terminate their broadband service.

They immediately counter offered with:

24 months contract of 1Mbps at $26.90/month, free for 1st 12 months.
Free home fixed line for 24 months ($27.50 per quarter)
Free wireless modem

Total savings for 2 years: $542

Lesson: call your provider to "cancel" their service even if you have no intention to switch provider!!

Perhaps I should post this in the SuperAunties thread too.

Tried that with Starhub. They are not as desperate as Singtel. Told to look out for their advert every Saturday, no special discount :P

Just to share another "special deal" with all, in case if you are not aware. I know for "green", if you want to change phone after the first year, there is a early re-contract penalty fee. Before you change, call them to request for re-contract voucher, saying you want to use to change phone. With min user like me, usually would get $100 and this can offset the re-contract penalty of $100. Some heavy users might get more. :celebrate:

Call singnet cos contract expire since Jan. The trick doesn't work anymore. Say wan to cancel n they canel without asking for reason. :stupid: Now waiting for them to cancel.

After that will apply again cos re=contract n new user same deal.
