Has anyone genuinely lost their kid in a crowd before?
I lost my ds when he was ard 2.5 years old at gek poh mall. Though it was a small neighbour shopping mall, i went insane.
My DH went to the ATM while me and ds were picking up some buns at a bakery shop. With one hand holding the tray while the other holding the tongs, i couldn't hold my ds's hand. My ds was just walking next to me, the next second he disappeared.
I started to shout my ds's name loudly outside the bakery and look far ard the area. But there was no sight or sound from my ds. I was very panic. I went back to the bakery shop and wanted to use their phone to call my husband for help. The women at the shop said "Cannot!, this phone cannot let other people use!" I was tearing then, telling them that my ds son was lost, i need to call his father urgently! They just ignored me!! ( Till now, I still boycott tt bakery and all its branches) Luckily, my DH came back by then.
There was an amusement arcade at the end of the mall then, it was those dark and noisy type of arcade. I got paranoid that evil people might just bring him in and he'll never return... His father searched the arcade while I keep combing the vincity of the bakery to and fro till the exit to prime mart. I kept shouting his name loudly, with me almost in tears. Though it was quite a commotion, nobody really offer to help... They just looked at me as though I'd mad..... By now, it was at least good 10+mins, I'd lost him.
When I walked back to the bakery again, I spotted my ds squatting in the middle of the passage way, just a shop away from the bakery. I tell you, I was soooo relieved that i gave him a super big hug and quickly clear my tears as not to scare him. The father came to join us shortly. I asked him why he didn't wait for me and went out of the bakery. (he was still babbling then.) He wanted to poo and wanted to go to the toilet. And yes, when we found him he was squatting at the door tt leads to the toilet. Perhaps, he did venture to the toilet, tt's y we can't find him or he can't hear us. Maybe he realised he didn't know how to go toilet by himself then he walk out again?? This is a mystery that we don't know til now.
ps. even til now, as i recall the incident, it still gives me shivers down my spine.....

I also lost my DS 2 yrs ago at IMM before. Was so happy to hear the PA: 'Would the parents of .... come to the information counter now'. Yes this *lousy* dad managed to seriously lose his DS twice already. DS being the adventurous kind, would run freely whenever there are open space.
I don't rein him in as I like the idea that he's not too sticky to his parents. Only when we are overseas do I insist that he stays within arm's length from me.
But when I lost him in the housing estate yesterday, there were no physical boundaries nor PA system. Hence my state of panic reached a different level. I was furious, but I guess most of it was directed at myself.

which means that he had crossed the uncontrolled 2-way carpark entrance between the Mcdonald and the multi-story carpark all by himself .... that is dangerous for someone his age and size. Some drivers may not even notice him.MMM wrote:Yah talking about it still reminds me of that day. Yes... to think that he crossed the PP traffic light by himself and then to that car park... :!:tankee wrote:

How about this... we almost lost our 4yo son in South Korea's Incheon Airport when we were preparing to go back to Singapore! One moment we were busy preparing our luggage to be checked in and the other he was GONE! Just imagine the panic we were in for 5 solid minutes. Fortunately, someone in our tour group saw him when coming back from the toilet. According to my son, he was following the wrong couple that looked like us.
My colleague brought his brother's son to Japan (but his brother did not go to Japan). He promised his brother he will look after his boy.ChiefKiasu wrote:How about this... we almost lost our 4yo son in South Korea's Incheon Airport when we were preparing to go back to Singapore!
