Piano... because it is supposed to enhance multitasking capability (ie. whole brain activity).

Violin...okay if I can choose 2 I will choose piano too..infact, if I can I will choose Violin, Piano, Drums in that order.

Violin : Develop brain and mind, portable, will become handy for him to bring around and enjoy . Also may comes in handy when wooing girls ha ha when he grows up:lol:

Piano: Ah the traditional instrument that trains the mind and gives the most possibility in terms musical range. But not portable.

Drums: My boy love drums. See something can be hit like a drum and he will go for it.

I was advised by a friend who come from a musically inclined family (every child in his family knows how to play at least 3 instruments) that piano is the most basic instrument to learn. He learnt his instruments in this sequence piano-violin-flute.

Personally l would learn electric guitar because it's noiser. :p

heutistmeintag,
it's never too late to learn. :P
my younger bro (then early twenties) taught himself the guitar, electric guitar and electronic organ...in this order. :D His skills may not be superb, but good enough to impress girls. :P

lol, my fingers are too short and too stiff by now. If I could, I would be happy just to play as well as this girl. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E57qOSOLhNg&NR=1.

Maybe in my next life I would want to be born with some giftedness in music and longer fingers so that I could join a rock band. As of now, I would just satisfy myself playing guitar hero with my children. :D

u dont really need long fingers to play electric guitar
perhaps maybe alot of practice to train your fingers to be more flexible becuz electric guitar do alot of sweeping and scale running
