which one easier to master - yangqin or guzheng ?

I was told guzhen is more popular and easier. but it all depends on interest of the child. btw, all music instruments are quite expensive.
IMO: Use the ear to decide, not price.

That is because guzheng has less strings than yangqin hence less variation to remember. Also guzheng is played with the "fingernails" which kids have more control than the "sticks (qing zu)" the yangqin is played with.
