Can music help kids in thinking skills, motor skills

Hi parents

I am contemplating whether to send my child for music lessons.

May I check with you after you send them to learn a musical instrument, do you see that they improve in other areas?

Please share.

Thanks!

Positive for dd2. Seems to 开窍 in academic after learning music.
Most noticeable during initial stage of learning.

After that, I think music become a source of stress instead

I send my ds1 for piano class to help him with his motor skill. It does help to strengthen his fingers but he fell back to his bad habit. However, he fell in love with piano and has been learning it ever since.

Actually, it's so difficult to tell whether the improvements in thinking skills and motor skills are a result of learning music, or just natural development of the child.
