I think the teacher knows that still life has a lot of essential skills to offer before a child can do portait more effectively.

I show my 1 year old youngest daughter videos of painters painting. i believe that is all that is required to teach her the skills of painting at such an impressionable age. when she get older, if she hav the interest, then i will buy painting sets for her

I gave my toddler some coloring books and crayons to start with and I'm happy that he's liking it surprisingly. He can't color the book correctly but I like that he's trying on his own..
