I am not gaining anything from this. Just sharing the good news!

As Fencing is fast catching up as a popular sport & Singapore is hosting SEA games in 2015, Hwi Yoh Community club (@ 535 Serangoon North Ave 4 , 550535 - near to Roysth Primary school) is actively promoting fencing SABRE classes under Singapore TOP SABRE coach Mr David Chan Wei Ren. Goggle Coach David and you will find more info about him.

Under Special arrangements discussed between Hwi Yoh CC & Coach David, FREE BEGINNERS SABRE fencing classes will be offered to all new students on sat 1130-1230pm .

Until the students are ready to progress to Advance Sabre class on sat 130-330pm, the students will then pay $25 each lesson in Advance class.

For more info, please goto www.asgardfencing.com

My 2nd girl (currently p4) has been learning fencing SABRE from Coach David in Asgard Fencing club & she enjoyed it thoroughly.

Regards with Metta
from Stay at home mum (of 2 girls)

Can I check if it is too late to start learning fencing at P5? Does the child need to be very athletic? My son has expressed his desire to learn this and take it up as a cca in sec school but I thought may be worthwhile exposing him in some holiday classes first for a start?

What are the monthly fees like? Are the costs really prohibitive?

DS started fencing when he was in P5. The cost per lesson is quite similar to the cost of a music lesson. But we pay in advance for a term of 10 weeks. Check out the various private fencing schools. They usually run holiday programs. And if your kid is serious, you can sign up for weekly class. The uniform is not cheap though. But luckily it can last very long.

Is it too late for a 15 year old to learn fencing now? Any advice?

Not at all, some of the national fencers also picked up the sport quite late, e.g. national fencer wang wenying picked up fencing at 16.

Dear parents,

I am selling my sons' fencing masks (FOIL) which have only been used a few times only. They are only bought early this year and have been used a few times. So still in very good condition. Both my sons are age 8 and 11 respectively, so the masks size should be about S and M. I am selling the masks because both sons decided to change weapons and hence need a different mask type. Will sell at a good price. Suitable for beginners. Pls pm me if keen.

Thanks.

i would like to check anyone enroll their child into fencing at young age like e..g 4++? How is fencing vs martial arts? does it bored children and does it burn energy compared to martial arts? Do children become aggressive when learning fencing? What kind of realistic expectations i should have when enrolling child into fencing? is it a "rich" man sport?
