HI Everyone,

I am JL here, I am a golf coach teaching at Keppel at the moment. We are having a promotion at the moment as we just open in January (a new golf academy) its $30 an hour min 3 kids to start and its a 3 month package. we have a proper golf program for weekly basis. Just a quick introduction about myself! I am 28 going 29 this year and I have been golfing since 10 years old. I am in the national team when I am 14 years old and been playing competitive golf since then. I turned professional in 2010 and played on the professional tour for 2 years and I am also the only female professional that holds a AA membership in Singapore Professional Golf association currently. I have since been teaching after my competitive career. I teach both Kids and adults and some even play and compete in the national school events. Please PM me for more details or ask me questions if you like I will be more than happy to reply. Happy Golfing! =)
We had our children enrolled in the marina bay golf/ star golf academy and don't recommend this
The coaches are nice and facilities are nice but the management running it made the whole thing mechanical, about money, not fun. In fact we were so disappointed by the whole approach we don't even golf there anymore and definitely don't take the kids
The other place where there were no facilities, just a room, I found kids enjoyed the interaction and personalized attention and looked up to playing golf. Kids got a development program on the first day in the kidder golf place that immediately told them what body parts to strengthen. The approach was friendly and inclusive making it fun for kids

Now star golf let the kids hit on the range for almost 70% of the program duration. The kid is lost, non of his/her fault. The kids never looked up to going to play golf. It was a drag.
Management is always ready to sell u personalized lessons and intermediate classes to make more money. I don't blame them for looking to make more money but they treated the kids without taking ownership of their golf and essentially kids got bummed and dejected.

Don't do it. Go to a place that makes sports fun for kids and even if the kid doesn't learn anything he/she should have fun. Golf is fun and can be a lot of fun except here they amazingly just sucked out all the fun.

I agreed. Star Golf is lousy and they do not have the welfare of the kids, they are all about money, I have 2 children with them and will be taking them out after completing this module.

What would be a good age to start a kid on golf? At what age will instructions be more easily understood? I am concerned that a kid who picks up golf too early will have a swing, which is not perfect, too ingrained that it will end up too frustrating to improve or change his swing later. And any adverse impact on posture, especially for a pre-schooler?
