I used to think that my son was on average. But he proved I was wrong. He didn't like piano and Taekwondo we chose for him. He likes Youtube and plays all kind of craft. He didn't get any prize for his hobby of paper craft, but he got admit to NJC because of his hobby. Now I believe he is gifted. I do believe every child is gifted and they only need time to find their own passion.
Here are some of his paper craft work in Youtube.

I've read this from an article might be worth sharing. You can often tell that a baby is gifted when a new sound or song has an immediate calming effect. Over time, however, the same song or sound may become less effective or stop working altogether. The speed by which this occurs is often indicative of giftedness.

There are many types of giftedness. Musical, reading, math, physical, artistic, etc. If a child seems to like art, take him/her to places to do art. Same with music and athletics. Go to the public library storyhours and check out books to share with your child. Do some family math problems and encourage interest in math and science.

Agree, learn to know your child's interest and do your job through encouragement and being their for them throughout their journey. Guidance is once of they keys your child will be successful.
