Little and often is best. Just a few lines a day (maybe 5?) might be enough. And what about writing fun things like copying out jokes, rhymes, limericks?

as long as the handwriting is legible, it doesn't matter how it looks.

DD2 is in K1. I noticed she don't do much writing in school. At home, I have been working with her on her writing. Encountered resistance in Chinese writing which I think is normal. But, I believe practice makes perfect and will continue to work with her. Started with single character, progressed on to phrases and is now working on sentences.

not really..the teacher kept complaining to me about my child's handwriting even when it is legible

actually why teachers are paying so much attention to handwriting. shouldn't they be more worried about whether my child is actually learning in school!

handwriting is not so important in this era. Ask yourself honestly, when was the last time you took a pen to write? well for my name sake I shall pretend i didn't say that lol.
