In singapore, you are not allowed to skip a level.I knew one kid is high IQ kid.The parents asking him to put in p2 instead of pri1.Principal rejected. They can't do that.

I think exceptional cases can seek advice from MOE. Check this link:
http://moe.gov.sg/education/programmes/ ... ly-gifted/

Scroll down the FAQs to "Level Skip" and "Early Admission"

Kids may be admitted early to P1 but must be at least 5yo.

For level skipping, case by case basis. But not impossible.

Generally, must see if child is ready emotionally.

If not, can go under the "accelerate for specific subjects". i.e. same level as same age peers, but go for classes, say, in Math, at higher levels. :)

Are these level skipping cases the results of parents' requests (i.e paid for IQ tests themselves and/or requested the moe & school for level skipping)? So far, has any student been identified and recommended for level skipping by schools (zero parents' interference)? Any student recommended to skip more than a level?

Are these level skipping students usually Jan babies? Any June - Dec babies?

Just curious... :?

Yes, Sheldon was from Rosyth GEP and he skipped either the P4 or P5 level (not sure). Very gifted kid in all areas including music!

Thanks for the info. I was under the impression that Sheldon skipped either P1 or P2. Read that he was doing secondary school maths at P2 or P3.
