How do you get your child to sit up straight?

DS love to put his face real close to the paper that he is writing or drawing.

Despite us repeatedly reminding him that his posture is very bad for his eye, he would sit up straight for the next 3-5 minutes, before gradually get closer & closer to the paper.

How do you get your child to sit up straight?

Perhaps get his eye-sight checked?
The right table-chair height is impt too.

In the same boat as tankee...
The only difference is DD is 13 and a smart girl who understands the consequence yet finds it difficult to follow. She is very very meticulous about her work , so the effort she puts in her writing is really a lot ( plus point is her teachers have commented to me that all her works are a pleasure to read). However, she cannot not do it , i tell her she has OCD

After 4 years of nagging, i have let her go her way. Bcos short of fixing a hook on the ceiling and fixing her shoulder to it I see no way.

So any suggestion that works will be really appreciated.
PS- She has a adjustable table with a Durorest Chair ( at 5ft5in she needs to use adult table/chair)

For DS, i have a good Ergo chair/desk , hope to prevent the problem before it starts :xedfingers:

I insist on him sitting on a proper writing table.

Then I use scare tactic - point to him the old folks that walk with a bent or has a hump - - this is how you will become if you do not sit straight!

& then I continue to NAG & NAG & NAG

suggest: have his chair against a wall, push the table as close to the child as possible... no excuse to bend forward cos no space to push backwards (neither person nor chair)

DS also slant down when he sits... mil threaten to tie a plank against his back so he cant "nua"...
