stay honest with them and guide them along the way
Teenagers nowadays also have trust issues so as a parent you need to stay honest and always make realize the as a parent you are the trusted person for them. And also you need to guide and teach them how to be better teenagers in this new generation. just make them feel that they are always important and loved.

I agree teenagers need guidance for there decisions. Also, they want attention and care. Give them some advice about what to do in life or being teenager. Make them feel that you are always there for them and support the things they want.

Parenting teenagers can be quite difficult. But we need to understand how they are thinking and take time to be with them. In that way, we can have the knowledge of how to deal with them with love and care.

A good heart-to-heart talk with the child to discuss about his/her unique needs is necessary. Such that parent and child can have mutual respect for each others' needs and "boundaries".

Educate Yourself
Read books about teenagers. Think back on your own teen years. Remember your struggles with acne or your embarrassment at developing early — or late. Expect some mood changes in your typically sunny child, and be prepared for more conflict as he or she matures as an individual. Parents who know what's coming can cope with it better. And the more you know, the better you can prepare.

The hardest part is getting teenagers to come out of their rooms and/or talk. How was your day? Ok. Do you need help? Grunt. LOL. First of all, I think this is the new normal. Hard as it is for us, teens need to make decisions on their own and we need to let go. Having said that, instead of badgering them, we have to find the right moment e.g. when they are relaxed and in a good mood to keep them engaged. Watch movies with them (we just caught Parasite on cable) and go for nature walks etc.. Is easier I guess if you already have a good relationship with them. But even then, I agree parenting teenagers can be a real pain. Suddenly they are sullen, sensitive and rude.
