Lessons every child should know?

Postby Geisz » Tue Feb 19, 2013 11:58 pm

Hi guys, I for one make sure that they understand the importance of actions, consequences and the gray areas in between.

So, in the spirit of fun and to possibly share some fresh parenting insights, what is the one lesson you guys think is an absolute must for a child to learn and why?

I'm pretty much open to any answers, it could even be an important skill, like recognizing shapes and colours!

Young kids are like sponge. They absorb anything they see.

It doesnt neccessary needs to be academic. You can ask ur kids what they observe in school. You would be amazed by their observation skills.

Asking them Qs would also encourage and assure them of what they are doing is appreciated :)

Housework so that they know how to delegate if they have a maid in future or will not be lost if they do not have one in future.

Clear up after yourself and don't expect someone else to do it - applies to toys, clothes, utensils, books, tools ...

A related one - everything should have a place and should be returned to its place after use so you don't spend ages looking for it (or getting your mother to look for it!)
