Anyone sent their child for financial literacy?

Hi mummies and daddies,

would like to check with you all...how many of you sent your child for financial literacy workshop/class? My friend and I recently sent our kids for one as we find that nowadays kids dont really know how to manage their money. Since it's holiday and they have nothing much to do...decided to sign them for one. The kids had fun learning and challenging in small groups.

Anyone had experience before??

Maybe it is just me. But I would not spend money to get someone else to teach my child how to manage money.

Hmmm....great idea. Expose them to what's stock n share. I myself know zero about that, but I heard before young adults trying out at stock n gotten 'burnt'. So it's good for them to learn from young.

Not necessary. They can learn from parents.

Hi Kelly,

the kids learnt about how to make their allowance that they are given grow. They are given tasks to do with a limited budget, how they can get them done and even have money left.
Make them come up with creative ideas on how they can earn money in order to save for the things they want.

Also they learn what is credit cards and why it is not advisable to overspend...etc.

My DS, DD and my nephews and niece joined, they learnt from hand on trip to supermarket and shopping mall.

I was recommended to the teacher who taught this by my fren. I heard she was interviewed by the New paper last yr.

Better to expose the kids early than in future they overspend or dont know how to manage their money.

I dont think so...as long as your child can understand the concept of money.
