For those interested in orchestral performance, there'll be performance by SSO (Singapore Symphony Orchestra) on

6 Sep 2009 Sun 6pm at Botanic Garden; and
4 Oct 2009 Sun 7pm at Race Course

Free.

Can bring your kids there with picnic mat and dine outdoor...sounds great? :celebrate:

I tried to find the repertoire at their website but no luck. Maybe it's still too early? Or they don't list the pieces for free concerts?

By the way, I noticed the Babies' Prom and Children's Concert too. They are not free though so pai sei hor, I "borrow" your thread for a while, AnalectsReader.

Babies' Prom
In Dec 2009: http://www.sso.org.sg/index.php?option= ... 3&Itemid=2

Children's Concert
In Sep 2009: http://www.sso.org.sg/index.php?option= ... 3&catid=13
In Mar 2010: http://www.sso.org.sg/index.php?option= ... 3&Itemid=2

Basically, these concerts will be held on a yearly basis in time with the sch hols.

Don't worry about kids getting bored. As it is open space, they can run away to other parts if they are not interested. Have been there a few times - quite a good way to get kids exposed to orchestral music. No 'concert protocol' during the Botanic Gardens event.
