donating old clothes, etc

All kids need sunshine, fresh air, friends, and a good caring heart for others. And for the matter, so do parents. Find out where to go when you are ready to stop and smell the roses.

Hi,
I have a stack of cloth that are still good to wear but the DC has outgrown. I have also some other stuff that can be used.
Where in Punggol/Sengkang/Hougang might I donate this away?
Thanks,
Kiasu Karen

You can always donate to The Salvation Army. There are several bin locations for you to deposit your donations across Singapore.

I donate my items to the MINDS Shop. MINDS have shops in a few locations that sell preloved items. Revenue generated is then channeled back to the shop or to help its clients. You can see the shopfront and donors can see for themselves that their items are put to some actual use.

Check this out. The one nearest could be Rosyth.

We usually donate when we get leaflets at our door. That is the easiest method I guess. Haven't explored the other options much.

I give the clothes (those my daughter has outgrown) to the Filipino nurses at the nursing home where grandmother stays. but those clothes are not old and out of shape.

there are many private donors that bring donated clothes as well as items overseas to countries such as myanmmar to orphans and such. these are i find are more direct and they are more transparent about exactly how your things are used and donated

Those leaflets by the door seeking clothing donation. Do they re distribute the clothes, sell them as clothing or sell as recycled rags? I worry give them nice clothes, they shred, give them very slight stretched clothes also no good.

Once I see the collection of donated books, the way they scattered the books on the floor, I wonder they intend to sell as recycled scraps or second hand books ! Dark clouds looming and the collection truck still not in sight and the donated stuff collection points were exposed to weather.

Maybe another way is to liaise with the org you are interested to donate to and ask them what they require at that point .some org do list down a particular list of stuff they need.

I always drop off my donation items, clothes and toys, at the Salvation Army. It is convenient with several locations of their bins.
