Post by moomoo138 » Wed Dec 01, 2010 1:53 pm

Hi

Does anyone know much about the Edusave Scholarship Award for P5/P6? E.g., how do we know if our kid belongs to which category, Top 5% or 10% and if it of any value to DSA application?

Thanks!! :D

my child did not get this award in P5, but has got DSA offered. DSA usually look for special talent and what you can do to the school in competition sports, Olympiad subjects etc. above these, P5/6 school result preferrably be above 80% and must performance well in the DSA test and interview, of course.

Hi Mdm KS

Tks... Was hoping that we can use it to beef up his DSA application next year. Hahaha...

Well, not too bad either, at least he can use the monetary reward from that award to buy himself some nice storybooks...

The monetary reward is different, top 5% will receive $400 while the next 5% will receive $350. My DS just received his Edusave Scholarship in mail too. :D

Hi Publica

Congrates to your DS!! :D But did it indicate if he's Top 5% ($400) or the next 5% ($350)? Is this his 1st or 2nd time getting this award?

Rather confused, was told different stories... (1) have to attend some ceremony to receive the award, (2) just collect from school admin office when school reopens. :?
Tks!

The letter doesn't indicate but it mentioned that a second letter will be send later to inform the detail of the ceremony. Maybe it will state top 5% or 10% in the second later :? Otherwise wait till u receive the award then u will get to know la $400= top 5%, $350=top 10%. But if your child report book did indicate his.her position in school in level..then u should be able to gauge from there. :D

Hi moomoo138,
Thanks. This is his first time receiving this award - he is P5 this year. The letter we received came with details of the ceremony, but did not indicate if he's top 5% or 10%. However, we were informed of his level position by his school.
Last year, he received Good Progress Award and we just collected the cheque from the school admin office.
Congrats to your child too!

Hi Publica

Tks for your well wishes too... My DS1 was thrilled yesterday after receiving his letter cos' he didn't expected it, so it's an additional bonus for him. He has been receiving the Edusave Bursary offer letter for the past 4 yrs but due to the gross salary cap, he was disqualified to apply.

We knew nothing about this award, so my DH told him it may only be $50. I've juz told him the actual amount and he's now planning how to use it. :D

Unfortunately my DS2 is pretty upset for not receiving any letter, may have to comfor and psycho him. Hopefully, this will act as a good motivator for both DSs next year.
