Maths Olympiad course at P2?

Postby Imp75 » Wed Jan 11, 2012 7:10 am

Hi

Are there any benefits to sending a P2 kid to a Maths Olympiad course? At such tender age and minimal Maths training since only P2, what do they learn in the course?

It would be useful for advanced/accelerated kids who are thirsting for more challenging maths than in taught at P2 level.

thanks for your response
I am also thinking is it too early to sign up for Maths Olpmpaid course? What benefits does it have when at P2, we should still be just setting the foundation for Maths. Will this help in taking the GEP test in P3?

Well, you know your child best. If your child has already mastered the arithmetic concepts of P2/P3 level, you can consider the Maths Olympiad course.

For basic exposure, you can get the Maths Olympiad prep books sold in Popular and see if your child can work through those with your help.

I have no idea whether this will be helpful for the GEP test.
