Mommy pea reporting

Postby pea » Wed Mar 25, 2009 3:28 pm

Hi all! Started reading this forum about a month ago, while researching for a preschool for my toddler. My friends have noticed that I've become more "kiasu" since then. Like rushing down to Popular to buy tons of books and arts n craft stuff...

I am SAHM with a 2.5 year old boy. Hope to be PTWM soon, after my child goes to school.

I suspect that I may have the dubious honour of being the oldest first-time mother in this forum. I delivered at 38...

The reason I call myself pea is because of this line that I read somewhere :

"I'm not your friend, I'm your mother. So eat your peas."

Hi pea,

Kiasuism can go both way -
1) the more you know, the more you want to be kiasu;
"wa..this book good, have to get, wa...this school good, have to go.." etc
or
2) the more you know, the less kiasu you become.
"wa..this book good, no need to get 10 other books, get one can liao, wa...this school need ballot, better register this other confirm got seat one..." etc

Yes, after my initial frenzied bout of buying, I have since calmed down and am more selective. That's why I read this forum, to get more information and feedback from parents who so kindly give precious tips here, so I can make better choices

Another reason why I slowed down was because I saw my credit card bill...

I AM panting... :(

And don't call me brave, as I didn't know what I was getting into then, thought could leave the childrearing to my parents or in-laws (who cleverly found excuses when the time came :siam: )

My sister's friend, at 42, wants to try for a 2nd baby. Now, that's brave. :salute:

Though I don't really advocate "elderly" pregnancies. Higher risk for mum and infant.

I thought only ang mohs hate to eat peas, which is their green staple? We Singaporeans eat rice. Or kachang.
